Very friendly mom and pop restaurant with delicious, tasty Korean delights. My husband and I tried this Newark eatery for the first time and were pleasantly surprised by how good their food was. My fried chicken was moist and juicy, while being crispy and crunchy on the outside. The 4 pieces of chicken were generous and I was able to bring some home. My husband always opts for spicy pork, and "mom" the cook, knows all the right spices to put in this dish. We opted for bento boxes which definitely gave us a generous amount of food, I always crave japchae and its an option on the bento boxes. This clean and inviting place is great! Hope you visit this restaurant and give them the thumbs up!

Hi, so I came here again and the service is much faster! Didn't have to wait at all before being served, but I feel like the quality of the food wasn't as good as the first time. The Veggie Japchae was overcooked and it wasn't stir fried but still yummy. Like there was just almost raw white parts of the green onion which was a bit disappointing. The Katsu! Wasn't the best but you can tell they make it there, but it didn't taste the best, don't order it their other dishes are much better and a better bang for your buck. But their fried chicken is so yummy, I always will come back for that. Oh and weirdly enough today their kimchi had a chemical taste (?) I know the quality is usually good so I was very confused, but their other banchans are always a hit. It's just disappointing But the reason I still rate it 4/5 is because the service is amazing

Love coming here for good chicken and more importantly, now the friendly environment! We always buy party tray sizes of the chicken for family functions. This was the first time actually having dinner inside the restaurant. Service was amazing! Food was of course delicious! And Peter, was very friendly! And for all my Oregonians in the east bay, come support this place! Go beavs!

TLDR; We've been going here for about two years now and highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic, home-cooked Korean meals. -------- Ive advocated and shared my experience at this restaurant with many folks (i.e. family, friends, neighbors, and even FB community pages) and have so many positive things to say about them. My partner and I have been coming here for two years (at least five times a month!) since we moved to the area and they treat us like family every single time. Generous portions, authentic flavors, and every dish is made with so much care. Every time we visit, we notice it's not as busy as they deserve and encourage everyone to try them out sometime (or like us, too many times haha). Grace, the amazing chef and owner, along with her husband, welcomes every guest with open arms and ensures no one leaves hungry. If you need a recommendation, don't miss their ganjang chicken--it's juicy, flavorful, and comes in huge portions! Honestly, though, every dish on the menu is incredible because it's made with so much heart. Plus, the banchan (side dishes) are delicious! We even celebrated my 25th birthday there because I wanted my family to experience the same love and hospitality Grace and her husband, Sang, show us every time we visit. Needless to say, they were just as smitten as we are! The photo on my post is actually taken by Sang because he was so excited to celebrate my birthday with us So, if you're looking for a place that feels like home and fills your belly with delicious food, I encourage you to stop by My No. 1 BBQ & Tofu. I hope that you can join me in supporting this amazing small business and show them how much Newark loves them!

It's winter season, and the cold temperature today made me feel like eating something warm. The chicken here always keeps me coming back, but today the hot stone beef bimibap hit the spot. I need to come back and have their soups. If it's anything like their fried chicken and their bimibap, I know it's going to be delicious, especially in this weather.

A local mom and pop shop! Definitely try their fried chicken. The bento box combo is pretty clutch if you're wanting to try different items. The pop is the one manning front of house and he's really nice. It seems like there's only one or two other helpers, so there's a wait when a small handful of tables fill up.

Always a pleasure supporting a local mom and pop shop. I swung by for lunch one day and it was quiet and peaceful for a meal. Gentleman running the front door was very friendly and patient. Water is self served. Side dishes are available for a refill twice. They seem to be a very popular place for takeout

You HAVE to come here for the fried chicken! It's some of the best I've had; so crispy, flavorful, and juicy. The Gan Jang (soy garlic) flavor is my personal favorite. I've also had the Yang Nyum (sweet & spicy) which is also good but on the sweeter side. Tofu soup here is solid! I got the seafood tofu soup level spicy and they are very generous with the seafood. It comes with rice and an egg inside. Just wish the soup was spicier as it was very mild for it being level spicy. Dduk Bokki and Bibimbap were good but nothing mind blowing. Good amount of complimentary banchan is given! This spot is the definition of cozy. Owners are so friendly, food is super comforting, and the lighting is pretty dim. The owner likes to put kpop on the TV which is fun! Support family owned businesses!

Tteokbokki -- not too spicy, one egg is included! Noodles are chewy and flavored. Japchae -- yummy noodles with lots of veggies, it was seasoned well. Mandu -- very very crispy and warm! The filling was savory and warm. Banchan -- you can ask for more, all were delicious! Overall quick service, it's a nice mom and pop shop! All the food was served very fresh and warm! I would come back again.

Great spot for some fried chicken! Hard to decide on which flavor? Might as well live a little and get both. Order Kimbap with spam yakisoba with chicken half half ganjang/yang nyum chicken Service was fair and they do get pretty busy during the dinner rush. Be patient as it seems family owned and operated so 1 person running the register, seating, and taking orders can cause some waiting. Overall a good spot for chicken and we'll definitely do takeout next time we're in the area.
